A Note from the Editor

Hello Everyone,

We don’t have a member article this month, but would like to invite any members who wish to write about their kennel or a specific springer  to send us their article.  We would be delighted to publish your information. We’ve had good feedback about the member articles we’ve published so far. We can also publish one or more photos. Please don’t forget to send us your brags. (djkemp@oxbowess.com)  Since we didn’t have an article and it’s fall, which means hunting season, we’ve included some information below.

Thank You,

Dave and Janee’ Kemp, Editors

Hunting Books and Websites

Fall is the time for hunting and thinking about hunting if you are so inclined, so thought you might enjoy knowing about a few good books regarding hunting upland game and also a couple websites. Sometimes we learn something new about springers or other flushing breeds from reading the articles or scanning these websites even though Dave doesn’t get much chance to go out and hunt these days.

We have a few good book titles for you. If anyone knows of other good titles, send them along to us and we’ll add them here.

A Hunter’s Book of Days by Charles Fergus

A Rough Shooting Dog by Charles Fergus

Hunting from Home by Christopher Camuto

Also a couple websites:

There are some great Springer stories on the Spaniel Journal site.

Dave and Janee’ Kemp

  • Oxbow’s Cowboy Crush, Teddy, won 3 majors and a Best of Breed at the Treasure Valley Dog shows in Idaho. He needs one more point to finish. This goes to prove you never know what’s going to happen on a dog show circuit. Teddy was piloted to his wins by Dave.

The club would like to express our sincere condolences to Bruce and Gayle Elgort on the loss of their boy, Domino.
